Danita is a freelance costume designer. She holds undergraduate degrees from the University of California, San Diego in Theatre (emphasis in Costume Design) and Cognitive Science (emphasis in Neuroscience) and an MFA in Costume Design from San Diego State University. Her particular interests in both art and science have helped her to design and create costumes full of visual interest and textures for a wide range of theatrical genres. She has worked for a variety of performing arts companies, including Music Theatre Wichita, MOXIE Theatre, Cygnet Theatre, Diversionary Theatre, North Coast Repertory Theatre, Malashock Dance Company, La Jolla Playhouse, and The Old Globe. Her design work can be seen in some independent short film projects and commercials as well.

Ever the creative and nerd, she always has her nose in some sort of story. Inspiration can come from anywhere!

Outside of design, she enjoys exploring the world, making (and eating!) food, and having good conversations with good people. More recently, she’s been putting pen to paper with creative writing and exploring photography.

Let’s connect here.
